Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has opened up on how he discovered and signed his label’s sensational artiste, Ayra Starr.
In a recent interview, the music mogul revealed that he first came across Ayra Starr through social media, where her raw talent immediately caught his attention. According to Don Jazzy, her voice, energy, and unique style stood out so much that he knew she had the potential to become a global superstar.
“I was just scrolling online and I stumbled on her singing videos. There was something different about her sound, and I felt strongly that she could do great things,” Don Jazzy explained.
Wasting no time, he reached out and invited her for a meeting. After hearing her perform live, he was convinced that she was the perfect fit for Mavin Records. Not long after, Ayra Starr was officially signed in 2020, and her debut EP introduced her as one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising stars.
Since then, Ayra has gone on to dominate the Afrobeats scene with multiple hits and international recognition. Don Jazzy expressed pride in her growth, describing her success as proof of what happens when raw talent meets the right platform and guidance.
“Seeing Ayra shine today makes me happy. It’s a reminder that there are so many young talents out there waiting to be discovered,” he added.
