Nigerian rap star Olamide has stirred conversation after speaking on the strained relationship among Afrobeats giants Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. In a recent chat, the YBNL boss admitted that while the three remain Africa’s most dominant music exports, their inability to align on many issues has created unnecessary tension in the industry.
Olamide described Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as “troublesome” in their own ways, noting that their strong personalities often clash, making collaborations rare and joint decisions difficult. Despite this, he acknowledged their individual brilliance, saying each of them has pushed Afrobeats to global heights in unique ways.
He further revealed that attempts have been made in the past to foster unity between the superstars, but egos, differences in style, and personal rivalries keep getting in the way. Olamide, however, expressed hope that with time, maturity, and a shared vision, they might eventually come together for the good of the culture.
Fans online have since reacted, with some agreeing that the trio’s constant rifts limit the potential of Afrobeats, while others argue that their differences fuel competition, which drives the genre forward.
